Passion, rhythm, and elegant lyricism come to brilliant life with two songs by Brahms, rich with warmth and nostalgia, and a brand new work from the multifaceted artistic mind of CFC’s co-artistic director Roman Rabinovich. Next stop, Hallelujah Junction, an electrifying, rhythmically propulsive work for two pianos, with their “endless possibilities for constructing an ecstatic, clangorous continuum.” The program concludes with Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio No. 1, one of his most popular and best beloved works. Imbued with constantly evolving textures and exquisitely etched melodies, this work is a perfect illustration of Mendelssohn’s rapturous vitality.
