Blue Dress

Ravel’s blues-inflected duo, with its hint of Hungarian flavors, sets the stage for a clarinet quartet that “overflows with folksy and tender appeal” (Cleveland.com). In Vespers, by GRAMMY®-nominated Missy Mazzoli, “a violin leads its own shadow through an electronic hallway shimmering with bells, organ, and voices.” A flirtatious Viennese aura permeates Dohnányi’s poignant piano quintet, bringing an elegant end to this vibrantly hued program. P.S. We are no longer playing Blue Dress by Julia Wolfe, but we can all still wear blue!
