Tonight’s program features three exquisite works illuminated by a cathartic, deeply personal intensity. Walker’s Music for Three reveals his distinctive voice and rigorous intellect. Schnittke described elements of his tortured and poignant Piano Quintet—conceived as a memorial to his mother—as “real experiences of grief,” followed by the breathtaking beauty and trademark elegance of Mozart’s exquisite Divertimento.
