ALEXI KENNEY a soloist this season with orchestras around the country, presented a solo violin and electronics recital at the 92nd Street Y, the Phillips Collection, and Rockefeller University, among other venues. He has appeared as guest concertmaster of the Pittsburgh Symphony and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, leading the latter on its tour with Mitsuko Uchida last January. Mr. Kenney has performed as soloist with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, and the symphonies of Detroit, Indianapolis, Columbus, Jacksonville, Santa Fe, Portland, Oregon, California, and Amarillo. He has given recitals on Carnegie Hall’s “Distinctive Debuts” series; Lincoln Center’s Mostly Mozart Festival; Dame Myra Hess Concerts in Chicago; Wigmore Hall; Union College; Portland “Ovations”; the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern festival; and Boston’s Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and Jordan Hall. Known for his compelling ChamberFest Cleveland programs, he was featured last season in Bach to the Future, pairing works of the Baroque master with those of Kurtag, Reich, Berio, Castillo, and others. His chamber music performances include Marlboro, Bridgehampton, Festival Napa Valley, Kronberg, the Lake Champlain Chamber Music Festival, Music@Menlo, Open Chamber Music at Prussia Cove, Ravinia, and Yellow Barn. A member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s CMS Two, he was the recipient of a 2016 Avery Fisher Career Grant, winner of the 2013 Concert Artists Guild Competition, and laureate of the 2012 Menuhin competition.
