Brook Speltz, cello, has performed as a soloist, chamber musician, and recitalist throughout the United States, Canada, Latin America, Europe, and Asia. He has appeared with the Houston Symphony, Colorado Music Festival Orchestra, North Shore Chamber Music Festival, International Contemporary Ensemble, and Manhattan Chamber Players and is a regular performer at England’s IMS Prussia Cove and on tour with Musicians from Marlboro. He is the cellist of the Escher String Quartet, season artists of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. The First Prize winner of the Ima Hogg Competition, he toured with Itzhak Perlman and Richard Goode, resulting in his nomination for the inaugural Warner Music Prize presented by Warner Music and Carnegie Hall. He has also toured with the cello rock band Break of Reality, whose cover of music from Game of Thrones has received more than nineteen million views online. The band’s recent American tour raised funds and awareness for music programs in public schools all around the country. Mr. Speltz can be heard on recordings from Music@Menlo Live and Cherished Moments: Songs of the Jewish Spirit, featuring music by Judith Clurman and Nico Muhly. With the Escher Quartet he has recorded the Mendelssohn and Zemlinsky Quartets, the latter earning a spot on the Guardian’s top ten classical discs of 2014. He performs on an 1857 Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume cello on loan from his cellist father.
