As sunset colors the end of each daily cycle, the music of a composer’s twilight years casts a crystalline, final light. Strauss’s lush, romantic string Capriccio, music by mature Mozart, as well as Schumann’s last Piano Trio written at the end of his turbulent and tragic life, reflect the pinnacle of these masters’ output.
