According to the Greek philosopher and mathematician, Pythagoras, the number three is the “noblest of digits” because it is the only number that equals the sum of its parts. Like that noble number, ChamberFest Cleveland’s third anniversary season, THREE!, is possible because of what has come before.
Our first two seasons, Big Bang! and It’s About Time, introduced and gave form to a long-held dream: to have a world-class chamber music festival where the connections between the musicians and the audience are as dynamic and engaging as the music itself. We are grateful to every person who has been part of making this dream come true, both on and off stage.
We’ve expanded the 2014 festival to nine concerts and added a new family program, and—as always—we’ll have plenty of opportunities to learn, listen and have a great time. Journey with us from the famous “love triangle” of Brahms, Clara and Robert Schumann, to an eclectic program made up entirely of three-player ensembles, to the world premiere of the first ever choreographed version of Tan Dun’s Ghost Opera for string quartet and Chinese pipa—a collaboration with Cleveland’s beloved GroundWorks DanceTheater.
Please join us for this musical exploration of THREE! in all its mystery and glamour. It is our greatest privilege to share with you the singular joy and sense of connection that chamber music extends to all of us.
